This is the official BC Oldtimers Soccer site. Our main focus is "For Fun & Fitness". This is the league that does not keep track of points or standings, just plain old fun and sportsmanship. We have been around for thirty sum odd years starting with just two teams. We have grown to 96 teams with 1,800 members running both summer and winter seasons.

We are looking for committed, reliable, good players. You are joining a great team with good camaraderie, representing many different ethnic backgrounds. We play at Burnaby Lake Sports Complex (artificial) during summer and Van Tech (grass) in winter. Have social (BBQ and beer) after each game.

Langley First Capital Over 40's is splitting and forming a new Over 50's club for this fall, to be called Fort United ( F.U.F.C. ).  Over 50's players are needed in all positions.  Great chance for the older guys on your team to move up and stay together.

League Rules
The League Rules are the same as F.I.F.A. Rules except for the following changes:
 

1) No Slide Tackles. (Sliding saves by the Goalkeepers are permitted)
  • This infraction draws a yellow card and a indirect free kick
 
2) A 10 Minute Cooling-Off Period is given at the referees discretion to a player for:

• A tendency to rough play
• Persistent verbal harassment of opponents or fellow team member
• Initial dissent towards Referee

THIS OFFENCE NOW DRAWS AN AUTOMATIC YELLOW CARD
 

3) No Charging the Goalkeeper
  • Indirect Free-Kick
 
4) Player Substitution

• In any ‘dead ball’ situation by either team regardless of possession.
• During a 10 minute ‘cooling-off’ period penalized players shall be replaced.
• A Red-Carded player may not be replaced in the Over 40’s
 
5) The referee will immediately STOP PLAY when a player appears to be injured.
  • The ball does not have to go out of play
 
6) In the Over 50’s League, aggressive and boisterous play will not be tolerated.
  • Referees will invoke ruling under term #2
 
As a courtesy and to make the game more enjoyable for ALL Players, Teams shall be equalized in numbers to start the game. Up to the minimum of 11 players

Policies & Directives

Please ensure that ALL your members, READ, UNDERSTAND and COMPLY with these guidelines.
1)
 Team Managers and Players must make every effort to curb the use of foul language, the flagrant drinking of alcohol and indiscrete urination in public parks. It is Parks policy to withdraw the use of the fields where this kind of behavior is reported. Teams without a field cannot participate in our leagues.
   
2) The Home Team must line the field and provide nets and corner flags so that the referee can do his job properly. Failure to do so could result in the referee canceling the game, in which case the HOME TEAM is responsible for paying the full $60 to the referee.
   
3) It is League Policy that if a game starts late because teams or fields are not ready on time, then the referee is not obligated to add the lost time to the end of the game, but he is still paid his full fee.
   
4) HOME TEAM must have a change of strip – where colours clash.
   
5) Complaints about the quality of the officiating will only be given serious consideration if they are IN WRITING and SPECIFIC.
   
6) The game officials are notified of any suspended players. Teams caught playing with suspended players will be fined and/or suspended from the league. The League requests your co-operation in supporting and enforcing these policies.
   
7) When both teams and the referee arrive at a field and it is deemed unplayable BY THE HOME TEAM MANAGER, because of last minute bad weather, the referee is not paid.
   
8) ABSOLUTELY NO UNDERAGE PLAYERS.

Referee Abuse

1)

TEAM MANAGERS and other TEAM MEMBERS are responsible for the control of abusive players. Get them off the field !!!!

  • Complaining is contagious.
 
2)
 Teams exhibiting control problems will be suspended from the League for 1 year.
 
3)

Complaint Forms. (also available on the web site @ www.bcots.org/forms)

• If you feel strongly about the quality of the officiating, send it to the league and we will act on it.
• Be specific in your criticism.
• Check that the other team agrees with your assessment.
 
4)
 Remember that our Referees operate without the benefit of qualified linesmen and can only call what they see.

The League would also like to remind all Teams that our mandate is

“FOR FUN and FITNESS”

which is why points and League standings were abolished. Let’s enjoy the fact that we are all still playing!
 

Age Qualifications

NO underage players are allowed in either the Over 40’s or Over 50’s Leagues
  
   
To be eligible to play in the Over 40’s, a player must already be 40.
  
   
To be eligible to play in the Over 50’s, a player must already be 50.
  
   

It is the Team Mangers responsibility to check the age of any of his players. Playing Underage Players is CHEATING and is unfair to legitimate players. Teams playing underage players face a one year suspension from the league.

  
   
Every Team has the right to request proof of age from another team before and during a game, without HASSLE!!!! Again – NO ID – NO PLAY
  
   
 

Disciplinary Procedures

1)

 Within 24 hours of the game the Referee must fax a report of any red-card infraction to the head of the Disciplinary Committee and Fax to # 604-421-7043 or e-mail dovorian@telus.net
All reports must include the names and team of the carded player(s) plus details of the incident(s). Head referees have a standard report form from our leagues.
2)
 Yellow cards are also recorded and will result in 1 game suspension if five are accumulated within one season. Two yellow cards in one game result in a red card and a 1 game suspension. A player receiving a red card automatically sits out the Next game – no exceptions!
3)
 When a player refuses to give his name to the referee, it becomes the Team Managers responsibility to provide the information. Refusal by the player doubles the assessed penalty and refusal by the manager could result in a one month suspension for the whole team.
         
4)
 PENALTIES
 
 

For the following offences the MINIMUM disciplinary action will be:
 
a)
 Kicking - 3 game suspension
 
b)
 Punching - 3 game suspension
 
c)
 Fighting - 3 game suspension
 
d)
 Tackling with intent to injure - 3 game suspension
 
e)
 Spitting - 3 game suspension
 
f)
 Head-Butting - Up to 1 year suspension
         
  For CAUTIONABLE OFFENCES the MINIMUM disciplinary action will be:
    Sliding Tackles
a) First Offence – Yellow card and free kick against
      b) Second Offence (same game) – Red card and ejection
         
    Two Red Cards (in a season) An extra 3 game suspension
         
    Three Red Cards (in a season) Indefinite suspension pending a review by Disciplinary Board
       
         
6)
 A player has the right to appeal his suspension to the Disciplinary Board BUT he will automatically sit out the next game while his appeal is under review.
     
7)
 The fielding of underage players in either league shall result in the indefinite suspension of the offending team from the league schedule, subject to the posting of a performance bond at the sole discretion of the League Executive. (No League Fee reimbursement).
   
8)
 For the following offences towards Game Officials the MINIMUM Disciplinary Actions are:
       
8a)
 Persistent criticism and disputing of referee’s calls (for which the player has been sent off)
       
    First Offence - 2 game suspension
  Second Offence (in a season) - 4 game suspension
    Third Offence (in a season) - 3 month suspension
       
 
8b)
 Insulting Conduct
 
i)
 Deliberate insulting conduct towards Game Officials:
    Definition
    Personally insulting remarks and/or allegations, and/or physical actions without physical contact.
         
    First Offence - 1 month suspension
    Second Offence (in a season) - 2 month suspension and conduct review
         
 
ii)
 Persistently insulting conduct towards Game Officials: for which a player has already been ejected or removed from the bench.
    Same definition as above
         
    First Offence - 2 month suspension
    Second Offence (in a year) - 4 month suspension and conduct review
         
 
8c)
 Physical Contact – Non Violent
    Deliberate, sustained or repeated physical contact with game official, with no degree of violence.
         
    First Offence - 3 month suspension
    Second Offence (in a year) - 6 month suspension and conduct review
         
 
8d)
 Physical Contact with a Game Official in an attempt to intimidate or injure
    Spitting is included in this category  
         
    Minimum Sentence - 3 month suspension with posted bond when re-instated
    Any Repeat - Sine Die suspension
         
**
 Team Managers and all team members are responsible for the control of problem players.
   
**
 Failure to observe the basic standards of behavior will result in a team’s expulsion from the league and/or the posting of a good conduct bond for a period of three years.
   
**
 Head Referees are copied immediately with the decisions of the disciplinary committee and any players who are caught playing while suspended will have their suspension doubled.
   
**
 The Team Managers will be held accountable for the enforcement of all suspended players.
